Awareness and Response to Active Shooter Threats

Presented by Brink Fidler, founder and President, Defend Systems

Multiple shootings have taken place in workplaces across the nation and around the world, and they continue to raise the issue of safety and security at businesses and corporate institutions.  While workplace violence continues to escalate, forward thinking administrators and risk managers are looking at safeguards that can be taken to protect their employees. Development of design standards for new buildings, as well as hardware, software, safety protocols, and employee training for new and existing facilities will aid in keeping our workplaces a safe haven for all associates.  This workshop will explore ways to make existing facilities safer, safety design improvements, emergency preparedness, critical response, lessons learned from tragedy, pre-attack indicators, actions that increase survivability, and more.

Attendees will:

1) Achieve a better understanding of how historical mass casualty events should be shaping the way we train and equip personnel in any workspace or education institution.
2) Learn the importance of security layers and how to identify pre-attack indicators in the workplace.
3) Understand the critical role of all stakeholders in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.

Registration: This event is free to attend, but registration is required.
