Human Resources Networking Group with Alum Speaker

It is time to reserve your seat for the next MT|SHRM Transition Group meeting. We are excited to have Cheri Carr, an alum of our group, join us to share her transition journey and learnings/insights gained along the way. We are sure this will be a great discussion!

Cheri was born in Seattle, WA and moved to Nashville to attend Fisk University after receiving a full ride academic scholarship. She obtained her BA in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. 

Cheri then decided to pursue work in the government sector. She obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Tennessee State University in 2010 and began working with the
State of TN Department of Treasury in 2011 as a Retirement Specialist and eventually as a Disability Retirement Specialist. 

Having an interest in Human Resources since graduating college, Cheri decided to pursue a career in HR and started networking with friends in the field. In December 2022, she received a job offer to work in the Department of Human Resources as an HR Generalist.

In advance of this meeting, please think of any questions you would like discussed. Upon joining (via Zoom), you will be asked to:

1. Provide a 30 second introduction.

3. Put any questions you have in a separate chat to Lauren Kiproff-Downer and she will compile them for discussion during the meeting.
