On April 23, 2024 the U.S. Department of Labor announced a final rule that increases the minimum salary an employee must be paid in order to qualify for the executive, administrative, or professional (EAP) or highly compensated employee exemptions. Currently, an employee generally must be paid at least $35,568 annually in order to meet the minimum salary requirement for the EAP exemption. Under the new rule, the minimum salary requirement increases to $43,888 effective July 1, 2024, and it increases again to $58,656 effective January 1, 2025. As for the highly compensated employee exemption, the minimum annual salary increases to $132,964 effective July 1, 2024, and it increases again to $151,164 effective January 1, 2025. This webinar will provide tips on how to prepare for the new requirements.
