This session will review our methodology and approach for completing a pay equity analysis. Specifically, we will review a process that reduces employee bias in the development of comparable job groupings and addresses pay differences based on education and experience. We will discuss the importance of understanding state and local laws on pay equity and what is meant by a ‘good faith’ effort when completing a pay equity analysis. We will also discuss the use of home-grown versus professionally developed tools.

Learning Objectives:

  • What to consider before starting a pay equity analysis, including why do it, what is your pay philosophy and what is your readiness to make pay adjustments.

  • How to ensure your pay equity analysis remains confidential until you are ready to share the results.

  • What is involved in the data analysis including traditional and other types of analyses and who to involve in the process.

  • The challenge of maintaining pay equity on an ongoing basis.
