MTSU Breakfast Series: Market Based Pay vs. Salary Structure: Which One is Right for Your Organization?
Presented by Meagan Loftis, Regional Compensation Director at HCA Healthcare & Amanda Williamson, Compensation & Talent Management Director at Premise Health
Program Description
A compensation structure shapes how employees understand pay, fairness, and growth, making it a core part of organizational clarity and trust. HR leaders are left to choose between two primary approaches: market‑based ranges that track real‑time external benchmarks, and structured pay bands that emphasize internal equity and transparency. Market‑based ranges offer agility and competitiveness but can create inconsistency without strong guardrails, while pay bands provide stability and clarity but may limit flexibility in fast‑moving talent markets. In today’s session we will do a deep dive in to both options and provide a framework on selecting what is best for your organization.
Registration: MTSU Faculty or Student: $5; All others: $25
Certification: This program has been submitted to SHRM and HRCI for certification review.
