Finding True North: Understanding What Drives Employee Engagement

Program Description:

Employees can work within the same organization yet experience the workplace very differently. This session explores what moves employees beyond satisfaction to genuine engagement and why engagement drivers may vary across individuals, roles, and employee groups. Participants will consider how communication, workplace culture, and leadership practices shape the employee experience, along with practical ways HR professionals can better understand what employees need to contribute at their best.

Learning Objectives:

•    Distinguish employee satisfaction from employee engagement and describe how each may appear in the workplace.
•    Identify how individual preferences and communication styles may influence an employee’s workplace experience.
•    Examine how engagement drivers may differ across employee groups, roles, and career stages.
•    Identify methods HR professionals can use to gather meaningful information about employee needs and engagement.
•    Evaluate how leadership practices and workplace culture may strengthen or hinder employee engagement.

Presenter Biography: 

Kelley Molavi is Vice President of Operations for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE), where she supports organizations in strengthening leadership, workforce engagement, organizational culture, and performance. She joined TNCPE in 2019 after many years as a volunteer examiner, team leader, organizational coach, and member of its Editorial Review Board. Kelley has also served as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Communities of Excellence Award. Her prior experience spans the service and healthcare industries, where she worked as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, quality manager, ISO 9001 quality auditor and representative, and strategic planner. She is an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt and ASQ Certified Quality Auditor and holds a BA in English from Middle Tennessee State University.
