Branding Yourself

During the month of March MTSHRM will partner with World Relief Nashville, an organization whose work supports the development of diverse communities in the Middle Tennessee workforce. Working together provides MT|SHRM members opportunities to learn more about key issues affecting our city’s workforce and provides volunteer and experiential learning opportunities.

World Relief seeks to empower some of the world’s most vulnerable peoples to become self-sufficient in their new home. World Relief has been serving the Nashville area for 28 years. In 2014, World Relief served over 700 people in middle TN, providing cultural orientation, job preparedness, English courses, youth programs, employment assistance, mentorships, housing set up and assistance, and extensive casework.

MT|SHRM volunteers are needed to participate in a “Branding Yourself” workshop with World Relief’s REACH program. REACH equips skilled newcomers with professional backgrounds with the skills and connections to re-enter their former field of work. In this workshop volunteers help REACH candidates create their personal brand and develop a marketing pitch. Groups participate in a variety of activities and games about body language, nonverbal communication, email etiquette, crafting connections, strengths and weaknesses, and developing a marketing pitch. This workshop will be facilitated by a World Relief staff member, all you need to bring is your knowledge and experience! Please consider supporting World Relief by volunteering alongside other MTSHRM members.
