What is OD, Anyway? Insights and Lessons From the Field
Presented by Jolene Skinner, PhD, Executive Director, Impact Nashville

Organization Development is a broad field that can often feel like a catch-all for such topics as project and change management, organization effectiveness and talent development. This presentation seeks to clarify what OD is and how it helps organizations evolve. Attendees will walk away with practical tools, frameworks and lessons learned to make OD more accessible to both practitioners and organizations.

Specifically, this presentation will:

• Provide a working definition of organization development
• Showcase tools, processes and approaches of OD
• Provide examples and successes of OD in action
• Share issues and lessons learned that both practitioners and organizations face in this space
• Discuss how experience can impact the understanding and evolution of the practice of OD over time
• Provide an opportunity for Q&A from the audience.

Schedule: Doors open at 11:00 am for registration and networking. Buffet lunch begins at 11:20 am, and the presentation starts promptly at 12:00 noon.

Biography: Jolene is the Executive Director and founder of Impact Nashville, a non-profit women’s giving circle that has given $69,000 to non-profits in Nashville over the past two years. In addition, Jolene has 17 years of experience, including global HR roles at Sitel, Bridgestone Americas, Willis Towers Watson and Dell Technologies where she has led work on employee engagement and culture, employee communication and the employment brand, talent management and leadership, organization development, and mergers and acquisition integration.   She also has passion and expertise in developing women leaders and creating work life effectiveness. Jolene has a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Northern Illinois University and is SPHR and SHRM-SCP certified.
