Myths vs. Reality of Holiday Networking

The November 9th, 2020 MT|SHRM Transition Group meeting will be a open discussion on the Myths vs. Reality of Holiday Networking in today’s job search market.  Our speakers will be Mark Marshall of Lee Hecht Harrison and Walter Tieck of Eagles Soar High Coaching.  Mark and Walter will present tips and techniques on being prepared for the holiday networking activities. In this “new era” of job searching, working remotely, and virtual social networking, how should a job seeker prepare? What are employers looking for?  Where will the networking activities be?  Or should I just wait until January?  Bring your questions, ideas and concerns.

Mark Marshall is SVP and Senior Consultant for Lee Hecht Harrison in Tennessee.

Mark has many years of experience working with corporate customers and individual clients to help them achieve their respective human resource and career goals. He is also recognized as a leader in the Middle Tennessee HR community. Mark’s knowledge and experience also include teaching graduate-level courses in Organization Effectiveness, leading enterprise initiatives to improve employee performance management, and working in executive leaders in various industries to develop effective HR solutions.

Prior to joining Lee Hecht Harrison, Mark was with the Human Resources Department of Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.  He has also held leadership roles at Tanner Corporate Services, American Management Association, Drake Beam Morin, and Career Resources.

Mark earned an M.Ed. in Human Resource Development from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in Counseling from Marshall University. What he loves most about the work he has done in his career is the storytelling – hearing people’s stories and helping people by sharing stories.

Walter Tieck has been involved with training, career coaching, and mentoring for the past 35 years as a leader in the United States Air Force, business operator and strategic leader with an international organization.  Today he is the Principal with Eagle Soar High Coaching, a business focused on guiding professionals to the next level of career progression.

Walter is a skilled facilitator, presenter and career coach working with business professionals, veterans and those seeking to reenter the workforce after relocations or caring for family.

Each client brings a unique set of qualifications to the workplace and Walter works with each to communicate that as a business proposition based on unique value/selling points.

This will be an opportunity to look at Holiday Networking in a very different light.
