Human Resources Networking Group with Alum Speaker
Speaker: Kirt Godbey, Recruiter

It is time to reserve your seat for the next MT|SHRM Transition Group meeting and what a meeting we have planned for you this week. This week we have a returning alum that recently landed. Our guest speaker this week is Kirt Godbey and I am sure this will be a great discussion. 

Kirt Godbey serves as the Recruiter for the Division of TennCare.  He joined our Division in January 2021. Kirt's primary responsibility is to provide support for assigned sensitive or hard-to-fill positions.
Includes support hiring managers through job description drafts, posting, interview process, and the offer and onboarding process. Ensure all HR onboarding processes are met and receive appropriate approvals. Work to further the recruiting objective of reducing time vacant positions remain open. Also, Kirt will be responsible for building partnerships with local universities and host quarterly meetings with departments on hosting fellows.

Kirt joins TennCare with over 23 years of military experience as a Medical Service Corp Officer and ten years of that as a Human Resources Officer.  He has worked as a Health Care Recruiter for the Army, Personnel Officer for a Hospital, and Medical Brigade Personnel Officer managing 2000 personnel.  In his last role, he served as the Operations Officer for a Medical Brigade and training of 1500 personnel.   

Kirt's diversity of experience working with different groups adds to his ability to communicate as a recruiter.  He enjoys talking to people and helping recruit new talent.  Kirt can reach out to others and support internal and external stakeholders' needs to support the agency.   
Kirt graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Business.

He has a master's degree in Student Personnel Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Business Administration from Park University.  He is a member of the Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management. 

Kirt was born in Somerset, Kentucky.  He currently lives in Hendersonville, TN, with his wife, Marcia, two sons Trent (12 yo) and Matthew (10 yo).  In his leisure time, he enjoys fishing and watching his boys play baseball or soccer.
