Annual Legislative Employment Law Update - The roller coaster ride continues!
Presented by Kim Vance, Attorney, Baker Donelson

On January 1, 2015 the Tennessee Employee Online Privacy law becomes effective.  What does it prohibit employers from doing?  What new rights does it give employers who subsidize employee service fees for mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices?  What policies do you need to change to take advantage of new rights regarding your company’s confidential information?    Plus, did you know Tennessee was the first state to pass an anti-bullying law for the workplace?  Does the new Healthy Workplace Law apply to your organization?  How can you take advantage of the immunity from bullying lawsuits provided by Healthy Workplace Law?

Tighten those seat belts because the roller coaster ride has only just begun with these Tennessee specific changes.  The Supreme Court is set to make nationwide decisions on key employment law issue in the next six months including:  1) are employers required to reasonably accommodate a health pregnancy in the same way they do a disability; 2) is time spent by employees waiting to pass through security to enter the workplace compensable time; 3) does an applicant have to specifically advise an employer during an interview that they may need a reasonable accommodation for religions reasons; and 4) does the Department of Labor have authority to change the law regarding exempt status of employees without allowing the public time to comment on potential rulemaking.  Join us for a discussion of all these issues and much more as we kick off the New Year with an overview of recent and anticipated changes in employment laws.

Schedule: Doors open at 11:00 am for registration and networking. Buffet lunch begins at 11:20 am, and the presentation starts promptly at 12:00 noon.
