What is the Impact of Fair Pay on the Great Resignation?

The Labor department noted nearly 15% of the labor force in the 6 months through September 2021 quit their jobs.  Job openings continue to rise and are over 10 million, more than 6% of the workforce total. The consulting company, McKinsey and Company, in a workforce study, predicts 40% of employees across the country are considering quitting. Women are resigning at rate of 20% greater than men. Why? What is impact of pay on resignations? What is Fair Pay and is it the solution for attracting and retaining employees? This presentation will explore the issues and strategies for retaining and attracting employees.

Biography: John Boutwell is a career HR professional and has spent over 35 years in the profession. He was HR manager for Jostens, Inc. in Shelbyville, TN. The majority of his career was with Teledyne Technologies where he provided HR leadership for the Lewisburg, TN and Hudson, NH facilities. John served on the Teledyne compensation committee. He is now an HR consultant operating Boutwell Consulting, LLC. He has an M.B.A. and a D.B.A. (doctor of business administration) and the SHRM-SCP certification.
